| Split the 2001-04 seasons playing both the PGA TOUR and the Nationwide Tour. Made a combined eight cuts in 18 appearances. Picked up first victory on the Nationwide Tour at the 2002 Northeast Pennsylvania Classic. Collected $81,000 for his victory, his biggest payday since winning the 1992 Buick Southern Open ($126,000). In 2001, finished solo second at the Nationwide Tour Samsung Canadian PGA Championship. In 1980, became first TOUR player to earn playing privileges without going through Qualifying Tournament. PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year for 1980. Won 1981 Lille Open in France and 1982 Chunichi Crowns Invitational in Japan. Winner 1986 Chrysler Team Championship (with Scott Hoch). Was first four-time first-team All-America selection. That feat later was matched by Phil Mickelson, David Duval and Bryce Molder. Won 1979 NCAA Championship and 1978-79 North and South Amateurs. Member 1977 U.S. Walker Cup team. Started Saturday Series Pro-Am held in conjunction with TOUR events. NBC and CNBC golf analyst in 2001. |
