HAMILTON, Ohio - The Kent State women’s golf team played through winter-like conditions today in round two of the MAC Championships at Waldon Ponds Golf Course in Hamilton, Ohio. The Flashes shot a combined 323, the best team score of the day, and remain 13-strokes ahead of second place Ohio.
Cold temperatures, rain and heavy winds made the course conditions less than ideal, but the Flashes hung tough and played well considering.
Gabby Wedding (Sr., Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington) had the best day for the Flashes, firing a +6 78, the only Golden Flash with a score under 80. She moves up 10 spots to seventh place after being tied for 17th yesterday.
Tara Delaney (Carlow, Ireland) is tied for fourth overall with her 71-81=152, Becky Wood (Jr., Glossop, England) fell to sixth place with an 85, Katie Williams (Jr., Cambridge, Ontario) is tied for seventh with an 82 and Kira Meixner (Richmond, British Columbia) is in the top 10 after her +10 82 today.
Tomorrow’s forecast is for subfreezing temperatures, 1-3 inches of snow overnight and 30-plus mph winds. There is a meeting scheduled at 7 am Sunday to determine whether or not the final round will be played.
